Universal 7 in 1 remote can control 270 TV, 102 VCR, 152 Satellite Receiver and 101 Hi-Fi systems, giving you access to 625 different devices. Your remote can be programmed for use with 7 different devices. These 7 different devices can be one or more of the following: TV, VCR, Satellite Receiver or Hi-Fi System. The keys "TV1, TV2, TV3, VCR, SAT1, SAT2 and CD/HIFI" are factory recommended device types. You may choose to program any device type to any of the function keys thus giving various combinations such as 7 different TV devices or 4 TVs, 1 VCR and 2 Satellite Receivers.

  1. Replacing the batteries of your remote:

Your remote functions with two AAA size batteries. We recommend using long life or alkaline batteries to get maximum performance and longevity. In this case you will get one to two years of trouble free performance (actual operation time depends on the usage frequency) After placing the batteries in your remote for the first time the green indicator lamp will flash for three times. This indicates that your remote is functioning properly and has not been programmed for your devices.

As the battery charge levels drop with usage your remote will indicate low battery levels by flashing the red "LOW BATTERY" indicator lamp as you press any key. In this case you need to replace your batteries as soon as you can, failing to do so will result in your remote to stop functioning after a little a while and as a result the device information you had programmed to the keys will be lost. After removing the used batteries you have 10-20 minutes of time to replace the new batteries. You should not press any of the keys while replacing batteries; otherwise programmed information will be lost. We recommend that you note the codes for your favorite devices before replacing your batteries. If this information has been lost you may learn the current codes for each key from your remote controller as described below and note them down before changing batteries.

  1. Finding and Programming Your Devices' Codes:
  2. There are two methods to program codes matching your home appliances to the device keys.

a)Using the Reference code table provided

Please look up your device's brand name in the table provided and note the code(s) indicated for that brand. There may be multiple codes indicated for your device, in this case for each code please test the operation of all the keys you plan on using by observing the function on your device (TV, VCR etc.). If necessary try other suggested codes to determine the most appropriate. For example you have found that the code indicated for your TV brand is 045. You need to do the following to program the TV1 device key for your TV. First Press SET and TV1 keys at the same time and release. The green indicator lamp will be lit continuously prompting you to enter a three-digit code. Press and release the following keys 0/10, 4 and 5. While pressing each key the green indicator lamp will blink off and on indicating entry and finally will turn off completely indicating acceptance and assignment of code. If a wrong or non-existent code has been entered the green indicator lamp will blink twice and keep lit after your press the last key indicating refusal of code. You may re-enter the correct code immediately and if the indicator lamp goes off you have successfully entered and assigned your device code.

    b) Using the automatic search feature:

You may also use the automatic search feature to program the matching code for your device. Let's assume you are going to assign to the VCR2 device key for your VCR's functions. You need to turn on your VCR (or the device your are going to use). Press the SET and VCR2 keys at the same time, the green indicator lamp will stay lit. Press the SET key again and the green indicator lamp will start flashing. From now on each subsequent press to the POWER key will send out a code and try to turn off your device. Keep pressing and releasing the POWER key until your device has been turned off. Now press the VCR2 key to assign this code and store it in memory. You should test other control keys to make sure you have found the right code. If the performance is not satisfactory you may repeat the sequence above and the universal controller continues to search from the last code in memory. Table below shows the range of the devices in memory.

    Device Key

    Code Range

    Device Type

    TV1

    000-268

    TV

    TV2

    000-268

    TV

    TV3

    269-370

    Video

    VCR

    269-370

    Video

    SAT1

    371-523

    Satellite

    SAT2

    371-523

    Satellite

    CD/HIFI

    524-624

    Music System

After you have assigned all of your home devices to the device keys you may now control any one of them by pressing and releasing the corresponding device key. For example to control your primary TV press and release TV1 and use the keys to change channels or increase or decrease volume. When you need to use your universal remote for your main satellite receiver press and release SAT1, now the keys will function for this device until another device is selected.

  3. Identifying the stored codes in the device buttons:
  4. If you want to find out or have forgotten any of your devices' assigned codes you may learn them with the following procedure. It is recommended to note the device codes before you replace your batteries. Press and release the device key you want to learn the code for (for example CD/HIFI). Now press SET and "1" key at the same time while counting and writing down how many times the green indicator lamp blinks. To indicate the digit zero the green indicator lamp will not blink. Repeat the same again by pressing SET and "2" key at the same time and finally by pressing SET and "3" key at the same time. The three numbers you have written down gives you a three-digit code for your device. You may repeat the same procedure to learn codes for our other devices such as TV1, VCR1 etc.

  5. Protection and Maintenance:
  1. Clean your universal remote by occasionally wiping with a soft cloth.
  2. As soon as the red "LOW BATTERY" indicator lamp is lit replace your batteries with long life or alkaline batteries.
  3. Do not leave your universal remote on or near heat sources or wet places.
  4. Do not hit or drop your universal remote on hard surfaces.

Please contact AR Elektronik if you have any problems operating your universal remote.
